Stieg Larsson is the man behind Lisbeth Salander. Stieglarsson was born in 1954 and died of a sudden heart attack death in November 2004 at the age of 50.
Stieg Larsson was the editor of an anti-racist magazine called Expo, an expert on right-wing extremists and Nazis and for 20 years the graphics editor of a Swedish News Agency.
Larsson Stieg finished three detective novels in his Millenium Trilogy Series which consists of:
- The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - A classic odd-couple detective duo
head to a Swedish Island to solve a 30-year-old mystery. The Swedish title of "The Girl
With The Dragon Tattoo" is "Men Who Hate Women". Translated from the Swedish by
Reg Keeland
- The Girl Who Played With Fire.
- The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
First, lets visualize Stieg Larsson millenium trilogy ebook covers:
Stieg Larsson is the biggest author in Europe and with a movie adaptation due out in the Unite States of America (USA) and United Kingdon (UK). Perhaps, 2010 could be a big year for all the fans of Stieg Larsson in books.
Or would StiegLarsson be the biggest author in Europe if he hadn't died suddenly in 2004, before any of his books were published?
Having sold
Normally when an author finds great success they're around to explain the curiosity of their book readers.
By signings and interviews, explaining their influences and inspirations, and
allow the reader to unpick the characters, themes and plots.
At the same time they let the general public establish whether they are interesting in themselves, or only because of their work.
So perhaps the fact Stieg Larsson died in 2004, before the publication of his first book, explains the level of intrigue and curiosity about his life.
It's hard to find fault with "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". One must struggle with bewildering Swedish names, but that's a small price to pay.
The story starts off at a leisurely pace, but the reader soon surrenders to Larsson's skillful narrative. We care about his characters because we come to know them so well.
A Swedish industrialist named Henrik Vanger, on his 82nd birthday, receives a pressed flower in the mail, as he has for each of the 36 years since his beloved 16-year-old grand niece Harriet vanished.
This flower, like all the others, comes with no note, no return address and no fingerprints.
After decades of futile investigations, Henrik
has painfully concluded that Harriet is dead and
the flowers are the killer's way of tormenting
him.
This time, believing he has not long to live, the
old man decides to make one last attempt to
penetrate the mystery, and he turns for help
to a disgraced Stockholm journalist, Mikael
Blomkvist.
The central question... what happened to Harriet? ...is answered in due course, and other matters involving romance and revenge are wrapped up as well. It's a book that lingers in the mind.
The disadvantages/ negatives/ downside/ rapidshare/ of Stieg Larsson books appears to be in the translation which is very often clumsy and dull.
Reg Keeland's use of the word Anon is seriously grating - and there are many other examples where you can practically hear the pages of the Oxford Concise turning in the background.
OVERALL Stieg Larsson Book Reviews
If Larsson's book feels just a little amateurish, then perhaps that works to its advantage. This never feels like a by-the-numbers thriller.
The twists and revelations work all the better for being worked for, rather than flung at the reader, two to a page.
Stieg Larsson died in 2004, at age 50, after a heart attack, leaving three completed novels featuring Blomkvist and Salander, and rumour has it that part of a fourth was found in his computer.
It's a shame that Larsson was taken from us so soon, but it's a gift that before his time ran out he managed to produce at least two first-rate thrillers, and perhaps three.
We'll know for sure next year, when the last book is scheduled to appear in English.

Useful little gadget - surprisingly handy!
Okay, so this simply does what it says on the tin. But as a working teacher, there are many
resources you can get on PDF that you need to amend and alter.
Previously a nightmare- but now you can amend and use them! Slightly fiddly to get the hang of,
and you need to persevere- but when you do so, this is very functional.
Not for everyone- but if you will use it, you will find it invaluable

Does exactly what it says on the box
Just installed and used this product this evening. Very straightforward to install, and took
only a few minutes. Once loaded, a simple user interface that really only takes a couple of minutes to
understand.
Basically you 'load' the PDFs you want to install, and then can either process into
Word/ Excel/ Wordperfect/ RTF format in bulk or individually.
The speed is pretty impressive also, which is good. I chucked a couple of fairly complex PDFs
at it - and generally the results were good - I could then edit in Word.
The only thing I can't work out is why the powerpoint output template doesn't work. I am sure
there must be a simple explanation, but I can't find a reason.
I have registered, looked over help etc but can't find how to enable. There must a really
simple thing I am overlooking.....
Other than that, an impressive but very simple product. If you do plenty of work around PDFs
then this seems to be a good purchase.

Converted...
Initially, I thought what's the point? But having converted a few PDF files and formatted them,
I now have some very nicely printed documents which I find easier to read and refer to than onscreen
PDF files.
PDF layout is not always suited to print. I suppose if you have the full Acrobat, then you can
manipulate PDFs more. Else there's this. Quite useful but bit overpriced me thinks.

Does exactly what I expected, better than Acrobat
I have used Adobe Acrobat writer at my previous place of employment. Now I am retired, I no
longer have access to it.
For creating or modifying .pdf files, the PDF convertor 6.0 from Nuance is all you need.
I was up and running within 10 minutes, able to modify some old pdf files and reprint them.
Great for updating village newsletters.
